The service was really beautiful and I was really glad to be a part of it. Just being there you could feel the support in all your friends and family. I feel lucky to have been a part of your family during my childhood and will always remember that you guys made the best damn deer jerky ever!!!! It's funny the things you remember.... On a more serious note though, Sandi, if you ever need anything or just want to talk i will be here for you. I am sorry for your loss, Mike was a kind and wonderfuld person. He always put a smile on my face when I spoke with him and he was always open, honest and straight to the point. He will be missed greatly as a friend. I pray for you and your family Claudia. I am sorry we have been out of touch over the years but will always remember and treasure the kindness and friendship your family gave to me. I can barely believe this is real but my fingers are typing so it must be. I'm so sorry that you had to go so soon...and I know that you would hate it if I type "mushy" stuff because you like to pretend to be tough. You never fooled me.... which is so very hard now. I always knew you had a big heart...and ocassionally you let me see it. Those were sincere, special moments I will always cherish. Times when you went out of your way to take care of me. How you brought me Strawberry Pie at 11pm the night Tori was born. Laughing about where Lemon Meringue comes from...I won't ever forget you. I'm gonna miss you, Dad. You may not have been too comfortable expressing your love to me, but believe me, I felt it. You will never know how much it meant to me to quit my cushy CPA job to come back and work for you the past few years. I'm not going to pretend we didn't butt heads from time to time...we did, just like any other "Father-Son" working relationship. But, in the end, we would always be buddies. I always joked with people saying I was the most "hired and fired" employee you had. But you never gave up on me Dad, even when I had given up on myself. You spoiled me with an unconditional love that I knew would always be there, no matter how bad I screwed things up. I saw how hard you worked your whole life to give us (Mom, Sandi and I) everything we could imagine. You were incredibly successful, and I hoped to someday be able to take over the business you so proudly built. I just didn't think that time would come so soon. But I know that I won't fail because I have all the knowledge and skill I need, thanks to you, Dad. You were the best Father a kid could ask for. I love you, and I know you will be smiling down on me through the years to come. Rest now Dad, no more heart trouble or back pain......just rest.

Claudia, How sad I am for your loss of Mike. The tears you shed I would share with you if we were side by side. Claudia, Jeff, & Sandi I am so sorry for the loss of Mike. I would like to share a story of friendship with the tough exterior of Mike Woltkamp. Last month Mike, Myself and eight other friends took a seven to nine day bike trip depending on who you followed. We were due home on Friday, but as the trip progressed I knew Friday was soon becoming Saturday or Sunday. So Wednesday night I told the Group that I would be breaking off by myself and going home. We were 900 mile from Lodi at that point. The group informed me that I could not do 900 miles plus in one day. I said for my two little girls at home I could do 900 miles in one day. Mike volunteered to go with me. I said old man you will never make it, Knowing Mike the tough guy would take the challenge. We woke up at 4 am on Thursday morning and off we went (after Mike circled the parking lot of the hotel reving his motor). After taveling about 600 miles I pulled over for gas. Mike followed me in, Mike crawled off the motocycle about to pass out from exhaustion. I said to Mike, we will just stay here tonight and go the rest of the way tommorrow (knowing Mike was wore out). Mike the tough guy took a drink of his water, took a breath and informed me of one thing, I am not stopping, We are going all the way, not because Dave has done 800 miles in a day, not because they said we could not do it, because you are going to see your two girls today, understand Brent. I knew that the tough guy Mike was my friend. 923 miles and seventeen hours we made it. The day of Mike's accident I was with Mike. As the phone calls came in to me up on that mountain from freinds and family telling me to park my bike and they would come get me, I said thank you but I will be fine, I had to finish the ride as Mike would have insisted. Thank you for allowing me to share your one of kind Husband, Father, Grandfather, " aka tough guy Mike" We will all miss him.
