Obituary of Jacob H. Rutz

Jacob H. Rutz of Lodi passed away on January 13, 2004 in Lodi at the age of 64. Mr. Rutz was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on July 10, 1939. His family moved to California in 1941 when he was two years of age. They settled in Vallejo, CA. Mr. Rutz attended San Francisco State where he earned his BA degree and then his teaching credentials. He married Shirley Augusta on July 12, 1969. They moved to the Stockton area in 1970. They then moved to Lodi where he has been a resident for the past 32 years. Jacob was a retired elementary teacher from the Linden Unified School District. His hobbies included amateur radio operator, collecting antique cars, and volunteering, particularly at the Lodi Library. He was a member of the Lodi Masonic Lodge, # 256 and the Woodbridge Masonic Lodge, # 131, Stockton Scottish Rite, Stockton York Rite, Ben Ali Shrine, Valley Oaks Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Tokay Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rutz of Lodi; children, Jeremy Michael Rutz and Jayna Rutz, both of Lodi; parents, George and Margaret Rutz of Olympia, WA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Rutz and an infant sister. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 11:00 AM at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel with the Lodi Masonic Lodge #256 officiating. There is no visitation, and committal is private.
