Obituary of Roland Carl Dietz

Mr. Roland Carl Dietz of Lodi passed away Sunday October 24, 2004 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 84. Mr. Dietz was born December 9, 1919 in Colume, South Dakota to Carl and Florence Dietz. Mr. Dietz worked as a plumber for Valley Plumbing and Heating in Lodi for 32 years before retiring in 1978. He had previously worked for Hodnet Plumbing in Sacramento. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. San Francisco and U.S.S. Nevada; he later served in the United Sates Army as a Tech Sergeant in the 191st Battalion, 5th Army in Oran, Africa and Naples, Italy during WWII. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post# 22 of Lodi, the Lodi Sportsman Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his yards, and especially bird watching. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, godfather, also for his bugle days as a Boy Scout in Colume, South Dakota. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Martha Dietz of Lodi; 2 God Children, Annette Gail Clow of Stockton; Kathryn Schlenker of Lodi; 1 brother, Robert Dietz of Brookings, Oregon; 3 sisters, Ethel Robba, Lucille Loftus and Norma Seabey all of Lodi and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Carleen MacLeod, and 1 brother Donald Dietz. A chapel service will be held Friday October 29, 2004, 1:00pm at the Evergreen Chapel at the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery in Lodi under the Direction of Lodi Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday 12:00 - 8:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home.
