Obituary of Lena Beck

Lena Beck of Lodi passed away in Lodi at the age of 90 on July 27, 2005. Mrs. Beck was born on March 15, 1915 to Karl and Elizabeth Horst in Butler, OK. She was raised in Oklahoma where she met and later married Clifford Beck on August 14, 1935. In April of 1937 they moved to Lodi. She had been a cannery worker for over 35 years, both in Thornton and Lodi. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lodi Garden Club and United Methodist Women. Lena enjoyed cooking and gardening, but her greatest love was her family, and her devotion to them and constant concern for all their well-being was her passion in life. She is survived by her children, Bill Beck and wife Mary of Modesto, Russell Beck and wife Mary of Stockton, Sharron Rains of San Gabriel and Janet Beck of Modesto; her grandchildren, Sara Jensen, David Beck, Jim Beck, Miriam Wilhelm, Herb Beck, Mike Beck, Jeff Rains, Kristin Lewis, Brian Beck, David and Dennis Buettner and Diana Davis. Lena is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and her sister, Marie Dewees of Clinton, OK. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Clifford Beck in April, 2005, son-in-law, Bob Rains, parents and thirteen siblings. A service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11:30 AM with Rev. Dr. Alan Kimber officiating. Committal will be private. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In remembrance donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 W.
