Elsworth was a fun, kind, generous, and hard working man. I have deep respect for him. I am honored to say that I got to go on Rod Runs with him and friends back in the 80's & 90's. He knew everybody and they knew him well. He knew how to have a good and made sure his friends had one too. His annual party at his house was always a blast and well attended by many. I will never forget him! He left two huge footprints in my heart. I will miss him dearly! God Bless his Soul !!

I have known Ellsworth since I was a little girl, he was friends with my father (Bob & Loveda Maple) and family. He raced and worked on Hardtop Race cars with my dad, that is when Ric got to know him. He loved to give Ric a bad time about how he did things on his own hot rod, his wheels were always turning, with ideas. He was very respectful of me and my family. Say Hi to my dad, Max, crazy wheels Wally Baker you know the old racing gang, keep on racing and building the cars. We will see you someday again. Ric & Nancy

I first met Ellsworth 25+ years ago when I got my first street rod. Young and lacking any knowledge about cars, I sought a mentor. I met Ellsworth and we seemed to hit it off right away. Spending time at his shop, sometimes hours every day, he quickly became more than a mentor. I think it was Willy who first called him ?Papa Smurf? saying that he reminded her of the cartoon character. I took the opportunity to apply the new nickname and in short order, dropped the ?Smurf ?suffix. He was now, and would be to this day, Papa. So, my favorite memories of Papa are every time that I would call, see him, or walk into the shop and say ?hello Papa? and his reply was ALWAYS ?hello son?. I?m going to miss my Papa. David

GREAT MAN! If I can say anything about Ellsworth it would be that he always said what was on his mind. After my uncle Roger died he stepped right in and made sure to tell me if I was screwing up and to straighten out. He will be dearly missed.

Who could ever forget Ellsworth Hein? All of the cars and friends that he has. The big events at his house. The music, joking and laughter so loud that all of Lodi (except him) could hear. He was unstopable and hard to hold down when he had his mind set on something. "A real go getter". He used to tell me " you have to have fun in life and not make life a hard job. Don't be so cereal, shit happens it is how you deal with it." I hope I am instilling that in my children. My children used to call him grandpa peanut. Because of eating the peanuts out of the jar on his desk. We will all miss and love you forever.

Twenty seven years ago Ellsworth worked his magic and turned a pile of junk into our red '39 Chevy. Boy, did we have fun with that car, and whenever we attended a Rod Run, Ellsworth was always there first. If you had a question about the event, he knew the answer. Need help with your car? He was there to help. He'll be remembered for his rescue mission along Highway 101 when three of us broke down. He got all of us running and back home safely. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, ELLSWORTH.

Although it's been a year or so since I last was over to his house he was on my mind more than friends I see monthly. He will never be replaced in my heart. "Ellswoody", had a laugh I will never forget. along with those quick-witted comebacks and Abraham Lincoln looks! He taught me alot and always treated me with respect. I loved him and, not only looked up to him, I often bragged about him and his work. The world lost a very talented man on August 4th 2006...and I lost an irreplaceable friend. Until we meet again 'ol buddy -
