although i wasnt related to papa hal by blood he treated me just like i was his own. he was truley a great person with a wonderful heart always looking out for others and their needs. He never said any bad or complained about anything. How he passed was not fair, but now along with him we are all at peace knowing he is in a better place where there is no such harm. i also want to say how proud i am of my grandma juani in the way she handled all of this. she is a hero to me. love always, lauren

Dad, It has only been a few days since you left us and I feel such a deep sadness that you're not here. I miss you terribly and hope that you can somehow let me know that you're doing just fine. Know that we will always take care of Juanita. She is such a wonderful part of our lives. We will miss you when we all go to Puerto Vallarta. Someone else will have to get our chairs early in the morning and put the towels out. Nobody did it as early or as well as you. I love you and miss you now and always. Love, Mary

My Dear Doc; I will always, always remember you for so many wonderful things. In the many years we were together, you taught me so much more than you will ever know, and I deeply, deeply regret that I did not tell you, I will carry that burden with me forever. You meant, and still mean, so very much to me. You were a genuinely one of a kind person, and I miss you terribly. You were sincerley the most kind, honest, compassionate, caring, and sincere peson I have ever known. Never a bad word or comment about anyone. I miss your dry sense of humor and all of your sticky notes :) To Docs family: He was very, very proud of each and every one of you, trust me, I know! Although he was a very private person, his feelings and concerns for all of you was something he shared with me. You are all very fortunate to have had him as your father, your friend. Juanita, well, you were on a pedastal, he loved you more than life and I am thankful that you shared so many wonderful years and great times together. Keep all the memories close to your hearts as I will, and thank you all for making your dad so proud in the end. May God bless each and every one of you as your Dad watches over us all.

My dad was the best. He always took the time to listen to my feelings, and throughout my life struggles, he was always there to give advice and lend his support and unconditional love. I am truly blessed by his spirit, and I now clearly see why he chose Juani as his bride. Her unconditional love for him and the dignity she displayed during his struggles with cancer showed me the true character she possesses. I will forever love my dad, and I already miss him tremendously. One day I will meet you on the golf course in the heavens, and we will play a round together like the days of old. Finally, thank you dad for showing me how to grow into a man an learn to act like a gentleman. I love you now and always. Love your baby poodle, Paul.

Uncle Hal, I will always remember the words you said to me when I was leaving California to come back to Chicago. It meant the world to me that you were concerned about me and concerned that I was making the right decision. As it turns out I made the best decision of my life! Thank you for your love and concern and for giving me a family at a time in my life when I needed one most! Juanita, Uncle Hal will always be with you and is now up in heaven watching over you.
