Obituary of Grace O'Connor

Grace Juanita Masterson O'Connor, 75, passed away April 22nd after a sudden illness, her family was with her at her bedside. She was born in Lavaca, Arkansas to George Washington Masterson and Edna Esther Elizabeth DeWitt Masterson on August 28, 1931. Grace moved to Caruthers, CA. in 1941 and married her loving companion and devoted husband, Jack Leland O'Connor on January 23, 1948. Jack and Grace then moved to Lodi in 1950. They established their first home and started their family. They have one son and two daughters. Grace was a very loving mother and devoted wife and was especially involved with her family. She was active in her children's school, and in activities such as being President of the P.T.A., Cub Scouts, 4-H, Brownies, Blue Birds, and Girl Scouts. The delight of her life was her gardening. She also enjoyed dancing, morning walks, ocean views, reading and cooking. She loved her trips to see her family and friends. Later in life Jack and Grace retired and moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1990, and then later settled in Brookings, Oregon. Grace is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack O'Connor. Her three children; Jay O?Connor, and daughter-in-law; Kathy O'Connor of Lodi, Jennifer Elaine O'Connor Hudson and son-in-law; Robert Hudson of Sanger, Janice Lynn O'Connor Bedford and son-in-law; Michael Bedford of Lodi. Granddaughter; Michelle Moss and her husband Aaron, Grandsons; Jonathon O'Connor, Kyle O'Connor, Philip Bedford, Christopher Bedford, and Kevin Bedford. Great-grandsons; Timothy and Steven Moss. Her three sisters; Ruby Hamblen of Easton, Jessie Lane of Fresno, and Betty Foster of Fresno. She is also survived by many brother and sister in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; George and Edna Masterson and brothers; Luther Winford Masterson, Cecil Masterson and Billy Masterson. Grace will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She will be best remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and honorable friend. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Funeral Services on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice House of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA. 95204 and Civil Air Patrol, P.O. Box 1018, Brookings, OR., 97415.
