Obituary of Spc. Mark Ryan Climaco Caguioa

Please share a memory of Spc. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Specialist Mark Ryan Climaco Caguioa was born in Stockton, CA on June 1, 1985. Through the years he developed an affinity for cars, basketball, girls, video games, hip hop music, collectibles, and Japanese food (he was a trained sushi chef). He had a naturally comedic personality, but also knew when to be serious. When he wanted to do something, he did it. He knew what he wanted and went for it. Mark Ryan joined the U.S. Army in 2005 and found his calling in the military; he quickly rose through the ranks from Private to Corporal in a mere two years. During his brief career in the U.S. Army, Mark earned a Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart of Courage. Certainly his work ethic and courage led him to promotion since he had a reputation for wanting to advance during patrols while others hesitated. While serving in Iraq via the Army Infantry, he sustained injuries after the humvee he was on was hit by a roadside bomb. On May 24, 2007, at the Navy National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, Army Sergeant Caguioa succumbed to the wounds he received while on active duty in Iraq. He was 21 years old. He is survived by his mother Maria "Lulay" Climaco, younger brothers Sean and Gary, younger sister Loren, and a plethora of other family and friends who find him dear to their hearts. Mark Ryan was funny, caring, selfless, honest, generous, and a whole host of other amazing things, and those who have met him would definitely agree. WE MISS YOU MARKY! A chapel service will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 10 am at the funeral home with committal to follow at San Francisco National Cemetery located at 1 Lincoln Blvd., Presidio of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA 94219 on June 2, 2007. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 4pm until 8pm and Thursday and Friday from 8am until 8pm at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. in Lodi with a 5:30pm Rosary and a 6pm special birthday tribute for Mark Ryan on Friday.
