We have know Ron and Cookie for 28 years. We have been fortunate to be long time friends. With Ron's sense of humor and fun attitude about life, it has been a great ride. We really enjoyed our visits and especially our trips to Pier 39 in San Francisco. We have been truly blessed to have both of them in our life.

How do I even begin to describe what a great father, father in-law and papa my dad was? I feel honored to have received such a wonderful man as a father. All of my life he wasn?t Just my dad, even at a young age I shared him in many ways with all of my friends. I remember when I was about 8 years old, dad was my softball coach, and gum was strictly forbidden while playing, well you all know me, ?I?m the coaches kid and if I want to chew gum, then I?m chewing gum?, well?.I?m in left field bored, covering my mouth with my glove so he won?t see me blowing bubbles, and man did I have a big bubble going, of course with the glove covering my mouth, just as a ball was hit to me. I had gum in my hair, stuck all over my glove. My patient dad wasn?t quite so patient that day, needless to say I played the rest of the game, as bench warmer and the next one. As a teenager my parents were the ones to always be counted on to take us to the snow, going water skiing on any given night after school, or trips to San Francisco ?just for dinner?. The day I married my husband, Eric truly gained new parents. How many son- in laws can say their in-laws love them as if they are their own, well mine can. My dad loved, admired and respected my husband A LOT. Even the day before he passed away, he was looking Eric in the eye and counting on him and trusting him to do what was right. As a grandfather, there?s nothing more that I can say except he was the best papa in this world. My dad would have walked over a bed of coals for my kids up until the day he died. There will forever be a void in my children?s hearts. I am very honored to have been able to have shared him with so many of my friends who thought of him as their father and grandfather, most even called him dad and ALL of the kids called him papa. Even on his sickest days, he would ask how Glenda liked her job in the ER or how Ally?s back was healing up. My fathers will never be forgotten or missed and his legacy will forever live on in my children, in their hearts, attitudes and the infamous Hanlon chin. I love you and miss you daddy forever I will be ?your little girl?!

Cousin Cookie met and married maybe the funnest person that I have ever known. Ron Hanlon also found maybe the funnest person that I have ever known in Cookie. It depends on who you talk to I guess. I know that some of the funnest times of my life were because of Ron and Cookie. Without Ron around, we now know for sure who the funnest person in the world is. We will all miss Ron very much. He was loved by many. I am sure that he already has a crowd around him in heaven with their sides hurting. Rest in peace Pal. Continue to look after my Cousin will ya. She could still use your support.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful friends and family for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time in our life. It is very comforting to read and hear all the wonderful things everyone has to say about my dad. I can only hope that in mine and my childrens life time we will be fortunate to surround ourselves with such wonderful people as my parents have. Thank you all! My dad lead a good life and fought a good fight. He was a wonderful husband, father, father in law, papa, brother, uncle and friend. He is sadely missed by many. I know in my heart he is in a better place, his pain is gone and he is watching over us, but selfishely I want him here with us to tell my mom every night and how much he loves her, and to watch my children grow up into beautiful adults. He was so proud of them. There were over 300 peaople at my fathers funeral, what more can be said. Thank you! Eric, Rhonda, Boogie and Danielle Hickerson

When we think of Ron we remember the laughter. Although he was called too soon, he enjoyed a full and good life, filled with love and laughter. May the memories of those good times sustain all of us until we can be together again. We'll have a lot to catch up on, old friend.

Ron, we knew you for a short time, but in that time we were able to see just how genuine and concerned you were about others as you made the decision to remodel the rental home in Roseburg. The fact that so many people came out to help you was testimony to how high you were held in their esteem. God bless you and keep you. --Fred & Carol

Ron was very special to me. I will not forget that Christmas when he had received some very bad news. He wanted to be right with God. We set up his baptism and celebrated God's grace in the midst of dark times. God gave him several more years. I am so thankful for those years. I only wish I could have been present to celebrate Ron's life.
