Obituary of Maria C. Spannuth
Maria Cabral Spannuth, 65, passed away on November 7, 2023, in her home. Maria was born in Lodi, CA to Maria do Nascimento Medeiros and Charles Cabral on June 10, 1958. As a young child, Maria lived in Galt and loved playing house, school, and tennis. Her bonds with her grandmother, parents, siblings, and numerous extended family and friends created the foundation for the caring, selfless, and unconditionally loving person she would become. May 8, 1982, she married the love of her life, Kim Allen Spannuth, and together they raised two loving sons. Together they lived across the country, building a close community of friends wherever they went while she studied, taught, and worked as an accountant. Eventually, they returned to Galt where she lost her husband, cared for her parents, and prioritized family and friends over herself. Maria was a devout Catholic and was a long-time member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Galt. She loved the holidays, in particular Christmas, and simply spending time with family and friends; her presence and impact will be missed greatly both at these events and in the small moments we all take for granted as time passes. Maria is survived by her children – Thomas (Lauren) Spannuth, Benjamin Spannuth; siblings – Antonio (Vonnie) Cabral, Charles (Linda) Cabral, Alda (Brian) Paine; sister in law – Kay Spannuth; nieces, nephews – Elise Cabral Young, Denelle Paine, Alexa Cabral (Scott) Mahon, Suzanne (Gabriel) Mabalot, Jordan and Kristin Young, Meadow Mabalot, Lochlan Young; and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, grandparents, and Alcides DeMelo. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, November 14th from 3 to 6 pm at Lodi Funeral Home. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said following visitation at 6 pm.
