Aside from the first time I had the pleasure of meeting Maria, I remember her dancing a Portuguese dance at our kids’ wedding. She and a group of other women formed a circle and danced with their shawls, and we all had a great time watching them. It was truly a happy memory of another truly happy day.

Maria and I were in Catechism Classes together at the Original St Christopher’s Church, but first Our Mothers were the Best of friends. Her Grandmother came to help My Mom when She had a new Baby. She was Cooking and cleaning and taking care of everyone. We were on the East side of town with a Dairy and The Cabral’s as we knew them had a Dairy on the West side of town. Our Parents would visit often stopping in for coffee and yummy treats. Mary Alice was always so sweet and kind and Loved her family deeply. She helped take care of her Parents at the end of their lives, and was so Proud of her Sons Tom and Ben. I got to meet them on this last journey for Mary Alice. They were such a Comfort to her. Thank you Ben for being with your Mom. I know that was so hard but just know what an honor you had in helping her on her way to Heaven. She will forever be your Angel watching over you and Tom and All of her Siblings and Nephews and Nieces. God Bless!

I was so happy when our daughter introduced us to Thomas and announced they were going to be married. I was just as delighted when I met Maria and realized how fortunate my daughter was to have a mother in law like her. I had the good fortune and pleasure to meet Maria for only a few years, but she was always kind, loving, gracious, positive and generous. I know she loved Lauren and treated her like would have treated her own daughter. Maria handled her illness with grace and faith, and enjoyed every second of her life, down to the last Christmas she spent with her family. I am honored and touched for having had the opportunity to share a few happy memories and moments with her. I will miss and never forget her. My thoughts and prayers are with her, her children and her extended family and friends. -Susana Rosin
