Obituary of Betty Fergason

Elizabeth (Betty) Bundy Fergason passed away September 4, 2020 at age 90 after several years’ battle of advanced Alzheimer’s. Betty was born October 5, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Jenny Bundy and was the oldest of seven children. Betty spent her early years near Guatemala City, Guatemala where her parents served as missionaries. Betty was fluent in Spanish, speaking Spanish to whomever and whenever she could. Betty attended high school and college in the United States and married Claude Fergason in 1947. Betty and Claude were married 58 years when Claude passed away. Betty and Claude’s early life together included having 5 sons and several job-related moves to Barstow, Stockton, and Lodi, California. Betty became an RN from San Joaquin Delta College in 1969 and worked in the ICU at Lodi Memorial Hospital. After additional schooling, she became a Nurse Practitioner from UC Davis in 1976 and worked with a Lodi Family Doctor for several years then returned to the ICU at Lodi Memorial Hospital till she retired. Betty’s hobbies were playing the piano, writing her life’s stories, making leaded glass art, baking bread and pies and enjoying her extended family. She was a long time active member of Lodi’s Vinewood Community Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers. She is survived by her four sisters, her five sons and their wives, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Betty will be interred next to her husband in Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. Donations to a favorite charity are requested in lieu of flowers.
