Obituary of Teddy Merle Clawson

Teddy Merle Clawson, 102, of Stockton, California died peacefully in her sleep while being cared for at Sunny Place of Stockton on Friday, May 22, 2020. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Willows, California. Teddy was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Vilas Dean Clawson. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Porter. Teddy is survived by daughter, Linda Sust and her husband Peter, and daughter Lorraine Drury. She is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Teddy was born in Sandy, Utah to George and Golda Trayer and moved to Stockton where she met her husband, Dean, in high school. Teddy was the valedictorian of her graduating high school class of 1936. Teddy and Dean enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and many more outdoor activities. However, as a young couple, their favorite past time was snow skiing spending as many weekends as they could on the slopes during the winter. During World War II, while their husbands were in Europe, Teddy and her skiing friends took up ice skating to stay physically fit. Teddy taught ice skating for many years in Stockton. During their retirement years, Teddy and Dean traveled all over the United States enjoying so many of the wonderful sights, the beauty, and the history. For more than two decades, they enjoyed working during the summer for the U.S. Forest Service in Ovando Montana, taking care of the horses and the grounds. They moved back to Stockton in 2005 to spend time with their family. Teddy attended Quail Lakes Baptist Church, along with her daughters, and will be greatly missed by all of the loving friends she made. Every Sunday morning her friends “would line up” to give her hugs. A memorial service will be held later this year when family and friends are able to gather to celebrate her life.
