Mrs. Rosa Ramos Aguila, a resident of Woodbridge, age 80 years, peacefully entered into rest at 3:35 P.M. on Friday, August 29, 2003, of complications from a long-term illness. A native of Tecolotln, Jalisco, Mexico, she was born Rosa Ramos Vega on May 23, 1923, the daughter of Pedro Ramos and Guadalupe Vega. She grew up in Tecolotln, where she lived with her family. On September 9, 1944, Rosa was married to the love of her life, Mr. Manuel Lopez Aguila, in her native Tecolotln. The marriage was blessed with the birth of five sons and two daughters. Rosa worked as a farm worker in the greater San Joaquin Valley. In 1956, she began a new life as an American. In 1968 she started working at Cal-Can Growers Cannery in Thornton, California. She rendered 17 years of faithful service, until her retirement in 1985. Rosa was a remarkable woman: a woman of valor, strength and courage. She was known for her kindness to others, her patience, her jovial nature and her devotion to her family. She was a long-time member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Lodi. Rosa is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Manuel Lopez Aguila of Woodbridge; four sons; Ernesto Manuel Aguila and his wife Shermane of Stockton; Arturo Ramos Aguila and his wife Sharmila, Carlos Miguel Aguila and his wife Lori, and Jimmy Mark Aguila and his wife Veronica, all of Elk Grove; and two daughters; Ramona Aguila Gonzalez and her husband Juan of Woodbridge, and Maria Irma Aguila Ramos and her husband Daniel of Stockton; daughter-in-law, Alice Aguila of Stockton; her nephew, Gerardo Ramos and his wife Christina, of Galt, and their children, Andres and Amanda Ramos. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren: Sandra Gonzalez, Monica Cuellar, Cesar Aguila, Ignacio Aguila II, Oscar Rivera, Ernesto Aguila Jr., Natasia Aguila, Teresa Aguila Lopez, Angelica Charles, April Mason, Adriana Rincon Aguila, Marcela Aguila, Zachariah Aguila, Javier Aguila, Jasmine Aguila, Carlos Aguila Jr., Analisa Aguila, Jimmy Aguila Jr., Samantha Aguila and Christina Aguila; 9 great-grandchildren: Eric, Alex, Anthony and Amara Charles; Samuel, Simon and Samira Mason, Cristian Brown and Marissa Rivera; two brothers, Marcelino Ramos and Francisco Ramos, both of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her son, Ignacio Aguila (2003), her grandson, Orlando Aguila (2002), her brother, Jesus Ramos Vega, and her sister, Francisca "Pachita" Ramos Vega. Friends and family are invited to attend visitations from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 1, 2003, and on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, led by Pastor Frank Alvarez of Lighthouse Mission Church of Stockton.. The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, led by Rev. Father Jairo Ramirez of St. Anne's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of her soul at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut Avenue in Lodi, celebrated by Rev. Father Jairo Ramirez. Graveside committal service and interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane at Highway 99 in Lodi. A virtual register book can be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association Memorial Fund, Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
