Sam was a wonderful person and we feel privileged to have known him. We will remember him for his mega-watt smile, great sense of humor and sensitivity. Sam made a difference in this world and he will not be forgotten. Nancy, you were truly the love of Sam's life...it was undeniable to anyone who saw you two together. May all your fond memories of Sam comfort you during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Nancy, family and friends. We were deeply saddened to hear of Sam's passing. Sam was such a sweet and gentle soul. I will always remember him as my saviour for giving me a ride home after school almost every day my freshman year. The love, admiration and respect he had for you, Nancy, and your children, sets him apart from so many. He is a rare jewel that will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew him. Our thoughts are with all of you at this sorrowful time.

The Reynolds family sends condolences to Sam's family. Sam was a long-time friend of Fred's. Sam and Fred worked together at the Pizza Garden in the 70's and Sam enjoyed a good cigar at Stogies. Sam was a kind hearted person and demonstrated that by making a donation to our son's Eagle Scout project at Lodi House. Sam, we thank you for that! We will miss seeing your smiling face around town.

Sam it is so sad to have to write somthing like this. You were a great friend for so many years. Working with you at Frito-Lay was a wild and great time. Watching you sell chips eight to ten hours a day and then landscape until dark, you were truly amazing. We had many wonderful days waterskiing and sailing on the Delta when you would find time to break away from work. It was during this time that you gave me the nickname Squirrelly,I was a little bit I guess. Always joking always smilling, that was you Sam. We helped each other through some hard times and both came out on top, you with Nancy and me with Susan. We will miss you Sam, your old friends, Squirrelly & Susan

Sam had came into my life when I was very young. More than 20 yrs ago. Sam had taught me how to do so many things from skiing to fishing. Most of all I remember how Sam had taught me how to work and be responsible. Sam had always been a very important part of my life. Sam did so much for so many people, he had the biggest heart. In the last few years we would only see each other or talk every couple of months, but I looked foward to those talks. We had a lot of talks that impacted the way I live today and for that I will always be grateful. I miss you so very much Sam, you were like a Father to me. I am happy that you were able to meet my son Cole, he'll grow up to know about how wonderful you were. Nancy, in the last 5 yrs Sam has been on top of the world. You could see it in his eyes as well as the words that he spoke. I am glad that I was able to meet you. Shane and Casey I pray that the Lord gives you strength and comfort through these difficult times and brings you close together. You both will always be close in my heart. Sam~ make a beautiful garden up there for us to see someday.

Last Friday we went to Lodi Lake to pay tribute to Tim Spurgin; one of the most loving, kind and caring friends we've ever had. In our hearts we know Tim is in a better place and his suffering and pain are over. We are left with fond memories of past times and the thought that we said goodbye and he is at rest. Sam didn't get to say goodbye to us and we know he didn't suffer like Tim did. What we do know is our grief for Sam is no less than our sadness over losing Tim. All we can do as friends is to try and help the loved ones they left behind go past their sorrow and continue on with their lives knowing that they aren't alone and will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. My heart goes out to Nancy (Bucky) who finally found a man that treated her like she always deserved to be treated. I hope she will find peace with the thought that some people spend an entire lifetime with the same mate and never experience a sliver of happiness and contentment in their lives compared to the time she had with Sammy.

While death is part of life, it is almost never accepted very well. Sammy always had a big heart and hug for everyone. Sam, and Shane were a big part of my daughter's and my life before Sam started his own business. We took the kids on vacations, and exchanged our frustrations while watching them grow into adults. Sammy could always make you laugh and smile. Such a generous and loving person. While Sam and I watched each other through the years in various relationships we still remained close friends. Finally, he was so happy that Nancy came into his life. Its too hard to say good bye, but it is the one journey we must all make alone. We all loved you Sammy

Sam and I have been friends for almost 30 years. We've shared some bad times and many good times going way back to the Pizza Garden days and fun on the Delta. Over the years we had many long talks and I think we even solved all the worlds problems many times-ha ha. Sam was always on the go and enjoyed life to the fullest. He always had a kind of mischievous big smile and left everyone around him in a good mood. I've never seen Sam so happy, with his personal life, as he's been since he's been with Nancy. Sharing his life with Nancy gave him the family foundation he'd been looking for. When ever Sam would talk about his future plans, Nancy and the kids were his main priority and how he could make them happy. I wish he were still here to fullfill his dreams. At times like these, many of us reflect on our own priorities, the ones we love, and things we still want to do in life. Sam always seemed to enjoy the many things in life and more importantly the ones he loved. Nancy and Family - No one can really know the sadness you feel or how much you will miss Sam but I hope it will comfort you knowing that Sam loved you all very much and his every thought had your well being in mind. We will always miss Sam's friendship and his big smile that he generously shared with everyone.

Sam has been a friend in my life for about 20 years. He helped me get through a difficult time in my life by just listening and suggesting which direction to head to get further satisfaction within myself. I also was there for him through some ups and downs he had experienced and I feel my words to him must have helped, as seeing him with the love of his life, Nancy Wall, seems to have made his world complete. He always had a wave and a smile and always had a minute to stop and chat. One legacy he leaves is the beautiful yard he created at your home, the best one in the circle!!
