Obituary of DONALD WALTER ANDERSON

DONALD W. ANDERSON, 71 of Lodi, entered into rest on November 10, 2003 at a local hospital following a short illness. A native of Norwich, New York, he was born on January 2, 1932, the son of Daniel Anderson and Lena Pudney Anderson. Mr. Anderson grew up in Norwich, where he attended local schools. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After the war, he was stationed at various military installations, including Greenland and Scott Air Force Base in St. Louis, Missouri. While in Missouri, he met Irene Cruthis, who would become his beloved wife of 49 years. They were wed on July 9, 1954 in Norwich, New York. Mr. Anderson worked in the telephone communication business for 34 years. During his career as an electrical engineer, Mr. Anderson traveled all around the world. After retiring from Lenkurt Electric in 1988, he moved to Lodi at which time he, and long with his family, purchased the Lodi Sports Club. Mr. Anderson enjoyed all kinds of sports, but had a special affinity for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Boston Celtics basketball team. He enjoyed playing billiard, but most of all, cherished spending time with his great-granddaughters. He was member of the Stockton Moose Lodge. He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Anderson of Lodi; daughter Sheryll Salsedo and her husband Paul of Lodi; granddaughter, Suzan Boster and her husband Thomas of Oakdale; three great-granddaughters, Lauren, Savannah and Paige Boster; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He was p-receded in death by two brothers, Laverne and Richard Anderson, and one sister, Olive Anderson. Friends are invited to join the Anderson family at a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. Pastor Steve Newman of First Baptist Church, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Travis Air Force Base Honor Guard Detail. Interment will be private.
