Mr. Berthold ?Shorty? Kundert of Lodi passed away Monday January 19, 2004, in a Lodi hospital at the age of 83. Mr. Kundert was born March 14, 1920 in Eureka, South Dakota to Carl and Pauline Kundert. Mr. Kundert was a grape and dairy farmer in the Lodi area for many years before retiring in 1980; he then became active with commercial salmon fishing until most recent time. ?Shorty? was a member of the Lodi Elks Lodge #1900, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #634 and Lodi American Legion Post#22. Mr. Kundert was a United States Army and WWII Veteran, he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Emma Kundert of Lodi, 2 daughters, SherAnn Lauchland of Lodi, Patricia Lauchland and her husband Henry of Lodi, 1 brother, Emanuel Kundert of Lodi, 3 sister, Mae Heinitz of Lodi, Pauline Mastel of Lodi, Stella Carroll of San Mateo, 4 grandchildren, Cindy Gnos of Davis, Matt Lauchland of Lodi, Sandy Lauchland of San Jose, Emmalee Lauchland of Santa Barbara and 5 great grandchildren, Christopher and Drew Gnos of Davis, Clayton, Cole, and Halley Lauchland of Lodi. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kaye Kundert in 1956, a son in-law Clifford Lauchland, 2 sister, Claudia Wolffe, Frieda Roberts, and 1 brother, Reuben Kundert. A memorial service will be held Friday January 23, 2004, 11:00 am at the Lodi Funeral Home.
