Obituary of Minnie Masaoka

Minnie Masaoka of Lodi passed away in Lodi on January 23, 2004 at the age of 85. Mrs. Masaoka was born in Lodi on September 13, 1918 to Kaneichi and Ume Funamura. She married Toshio Masaoka on March 27, 1944. She was the owner of Pacific Seafoods in Stockton. She was a member of The Lodi Buddhist Church and The Lodi Buddhist Fujinkai. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Toshio Masaoka, of Lodi; daughter, Joy Kobayashi and son-in-law, Wayne Kobayashi of Stockton; grandchildren, Candace Kobayashi and Jordan Kobayashi and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brothers, Mas and sister-in-law, Nettie, Funamura of Lodi, James and sister-in-law, Yuri, Funamura of Chicago; sisters, Mary Iyemura of Hayward, Grace Nagata of Linden and Dorothy and brother-in-law, Jim Morita of Lodi. She was preceded in death by brothers, George, Sam, Norman and Roch Funamura. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lodi Buddhist Church, 23 W. Stockton Street, Lodi, with Rev. Kenshin Fujimoto of the Lodi Buddhist Church officiating, on Friday, January 30th at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will be private. There is no visitation.
