Mr. Albert A. Schweitz of Lodi passed away Tuesday January 20, 2004 at his residence at the age of 79. Mr. Schweitz was born February 22, 1924 in Bentley, North Dakota to Alfred and Amelia Schweitz. Mr. Schweitz was raised in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana until moving to California in 1946. Mr. Schweitz worked as a machinist for General Mills in Lodi for 44 years before retiring in 1988. Mr. Schweitz was a United States Army and WWII Veteran and served with the 8th Armored Infantry Regiment and was part of the liberation forces freeing the concentration camp Dachao. He attended worship services at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Lodi with his family. He also enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee at McDonalds. Mr. Schweitz was a kind and decent man, proud of his military service and cherished his granddaughter and family. He is survived by a daughter, Gail McCarver and her husband Tony of Woodbridge, a son Gary P. Schweitz of Galt, 1 brother, Jacob Schweitz of Lodi, 3 sisters, Alvina Chaffrin of Missoula, Montana, Rose Martsolf of Lodi, Martha Hess of Salinas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Viola Schweitz in 2003, and a sister Helen Barker in 1992 A celebration of life service will be held Friday January 23,2004, 1:30 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery in Lodi. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00-8:00 PM at the Lodi Funeral Home. Remembrances can be sent to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 701 S. Pleasant Ave. Lodi, CA 95240
