My Dear Brother; By now you have surly seen what a great impact you have had in so many lifes, of which mine is included. You were always a true man of God. When my father went to be with the Lord, you were there for me, and was always there over all these years. You lived the example. How dose one say thank you when you have been honored with such great love? I look forward to that great reunion someday when we will surely give praise to God for all the great things he has done. Thank you my Brother.

When I was just a small child in grammar school with your loving daughter Sharon. You welcomed me into your home. I can today remember your smiling face. Thank You for the Love Of Christ You showed me then and the Love you instilled into your family that lives on Today and into tomorrow. Through that Love, you live on. Through that love you pass on the Love of our Lord and Savior. You and your wife's kindness to a small child meant the world...Thank you so much....Kathryn Stoaks

In my travels from Calvary as a student of Ira Smith in elementary school, on to Lincoln Neighborhood Church, Central Bible College, Evangel College, Simpson College, Southern California College, The Crystal Cathedral, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, Lake Avenue Church, Vanguard University, etc., etc., Ira Smith always kept in touch with me. I know he prayed for me each day...and whenever I returned to Stockton, my dad would say, "Ira Smith asked about you and hopes to see you!" If you have known Ira Smith, you have known a saint! If you had ever been a part of Calvary Church, as far as Ira was concerned, you were always a part of that fellowship! He ministered with unconditional love across denominational lines. May the peace and presence of the living, loving Christ be with Dorothy and Ira's family and friends.

To the family my heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers. I remember Mr. Smith from years ago at Calvary First Assembly. I was a past member back in the day when Pastor Reid was there and I was in high school. I remember Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith always being so pleasant, loving and doing so much to help the church. They both were very involved people and dedicated to that church and the love the Lord always showed through them. Mr. Smith I know in my heart is in heaven. All my love to the family and Mrs. Smith. I would also like to share something in the Bible if anyone is reading this please read 2 Corinthinas chapter 1 verses 3-11. That segment just reminds us that God is all the comfort we need. God bless and again my heart goes out to you. May God always be with you in this time of loss. Love in Christ--Rhonda Millonida

Dear Brother Smith gave me my much needed hug at the church door on Sundays as he greeted me there, always with a smile and the light of God shinning through. He visited my brother Wayne in the hospital when he was there in 1986 dying from cancer and prayed with him. He also took his precious time and attended the funeral. I remember one hot Saturday when I drove by the church and he was working on the grounds and I drove down and got a milkshake and brought it back to him and he just beamed and really enjoyed the shake. He was always doing for others and was gently surprised when he was on the receiving end. Brother and Sister Smith are always in my heart and I think of them often even though I have not seen them in over 13 years. Sister Smith with her messages from God over the years relayed to us in church and Brother Smith with God's light shinning through him upon others. I praise God for both of you who have meant so much in my life and I know that someday we shall all be together in His Kingdom. God Bless you and your family and may He keep His comforting arms around all of you today and every day. A Sister in Christ, Love, Gerry

We are so blessed to be christians for we know where our loved ones go after death. You have been given an extra and very special gift of the time you were able to spend with Ira as a family before his passing. Hold onto that time as a consoling gift. Our prayers are with you and your family in this time of loss.

I had the privilege of sharing an evening with Ira at the Gospel Rescue Mission. His message was typical of his life. He was "just a sinner saved by grace". That was the message he conveyed to the men and women at that meeting, and to the rest of us who knew him. I will be glad to be welcomed by him on the other side.
