My late wife Sandy went with Dina many times to Dr. Kwiker. He seemed to help them both, but not enough. They drifted apart as both got sicker, but they stayed in touch. I only knew Dina slightly as a friend of my wife, but I knew her to be a fine person not deserving of the ills she suffered from. When I last spoke with her 3 or 4 years ago she had ambitious plans. I hope she was able to fulfill them, at least in part.

Dina was a wonderfully supportive colleague, an innovative teacher, and one of the pillars of Delta College during her years there. My fondest memories of Dina come from the many years when my office was next to hers: I envied the grace and affection she shared with her students from so many backgrounds. Dina remains the only teacher I have ever known who could call her students "Dear" and say it with utter sincerity. They will miss her very much.

I met Dina five years ago. I was a student in an English class she taught at Delta college. I loved her energetic and creative presence in the classroom. Dina challenged me to pursue writing that semester, & I was inspired by her encouragement and belief in me. After the semester was over I didn't see Dina until I ran into her in Lakewood Plaza one day. We made plans for lunch and, over time, became friends. Dina was a dear friend and an inspiration to me. She liked my creative ideas, and loved to listen to me share about the things I planned to write and create - and she believed that I would complete them someday (maybe more than even I did). I will miss Dina very much.

I met Dina on a bicycle trip to China in 1984. We were assigned as roommates together and that started our friendship. We had such wonderful times riding our bikes thru China and Canada. She was such a nice person and I enjoyed our friendship very much. I will miss her very much and think of her often. My heart goes out to her sisters. God Bless. Love, Alice Polakoff

I am saddened by Dina's passing. Dina was a friend and a mentor to me. When I began teaching at Delta College, she freely shared her teaching expertise and guided me as we established a study skills program at the college. Her fellow teachers had profound respect for her. Her keen intellect and wonderful curiosity made her a most creative and capable instructor. She was truly a "teacher's teacher". Dina was a wonderful friend. I loved her enthusiasm for life. I will miss her.

There were so many times through the years when I called Dina to take those "kiddies" (students) who was struggling in class under her wing. I could always count on having sent those students to someone who would take care of their many needs and help them on their way to reach their goals. She was the last stop for those who would not have "made it" without her and the astute wisdom she exercised in figuring out just how to solve problems and calm fears. What an asset she was. What a loss.

Dina was a woman with great knowledge. She maintained a smile on her face even at the end. Karol enjoyed being neighbors with her as a young adult and Jeff enjoyed growing up around her. Many students, many people were touched by Dina and that will continue on. May God comfort the family as they learn to live without her and may He now enjoy her presence as we so richly have. All our love, Jeff, Karol & Jonah

I'm sorry to hear about Dina's passing. I was a student and tutor at Delta from 1984 to 1986. She was a memorable individual. She bailed me out once when a difficult student came for tutoring and I was assigned to the student. She handled the situation with tact and poise. I admired that quality and took the lesson to heart.

I was fortunate to have been touched by Dina's teaching. She was very inspirational to all of the nursing students in my class. So much that I found myself seeking her out often for the beautiful bits and pieces of her guidance. I have seen her since my graduation and thanked her many times, however, I want her family and loved ones to know how special she was to me. I thank God for having the chance to share special times with Dina. And I wish all the comfort can come to her family, as she comforted all of us.
