What an amazing history our family has. I remember the family get togethers in Lodi when we visited Grandma Michals. Uncle Mike was always there as was the rest of the clan. Lots of laughter, love and great food. What a loss to us all.

I met Michael at Arbor Place a few years back while visiting with my Therapy Dog, Sophie. It was Michael who showed me how to put puzzels together. He was so good at it. His works of art are displayed in many of the rooms there. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his friendly ways. Sophie looked forward to seeing him sitting at his cardtable and eagerly awaiting the touch of his hand. When he no longer could go to the recreation room, Sophie and I would sit and visit in his room. His friendly smile and soft spoken voice will always be remembered. He is dearly missed.

I'm saddened at the loss of my grandmother's last surviving sibling -- what a family legacy they've left behind. I was fortunate to talk to and visit with him during our family's infrequent trips to the West Coast -- my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Uncle Mike was one of my favorite uncles. He and his brother (Uncle John) were role models for me when I returned to Lodi as a teenager and spent several years there He performed my first wedding ceremony. They were frequently at my mother's house and I had great times visiting with them. After Mother died, I would go by his home for visits. He was a very kind, happy and friendly person with a wonderful sense of humor. Ivadel and I visited him in the nursing home 2-1/2 yrs ago and his presence was impressive. Uncle is a wonderful part of my family memories and he, especially, will be missed, as he is the last of the large Michalenko family.

Uncle Mike was a favorite of mine all of my life, and I always felt I was a favorite of his as well. One of my earliest memories is of him running out to the car when we went to his home, opening the back door and picking me up and throwing me up in the air. My last visit with him was the last time I was in California two and a half years ago. I visited him in the nursing home. He showed me pictures he had painted by number and puzzles he had put together. He was trying to remember the names of all of the attendants and residents. I was impressed with his alertness. I will miss him and he will become part of my memories for the rest of my life. Good bye, Uncle Mike. I love you.
