I possibly saw Viola when I was a baby but do not remember. I did visit her in Lodi in 1950 when my wife, Phyllis, and I were going through on a vacation. We stayed with her Aunt Sophie Leer one night on that trip and Aunt Sophie took us to Viola's house for a short visit. I wrote to Viola on perhaps two occasions in the '90s. She answered one of my letters. Although I was such a "distant" cousin, always living a thousand or more miles from her, I will miss her. My wife and I send our condolences to her wonderful family

Lloyd is the son of Sophia Merkel Leer, Alec's sister and Viola's aunt. Viola was almost two years older than Lloyd and he has fond memories of playing together with her as young children. His life-long nickname for her was, Tootsie. We are deeply saddened to learn of Viola's passing. We will continue to remember her fondly as a very dear lady. Lloyd finds comfort in the fact that Viola and he shared the belief that they will meet again one day. Each one of your family members will be in our thoughts and prayers as you deal with this loss. With our love, Lloyd and Barbara Leer daughter, Beth and Brian Radford son, David and Patricia Leer
