Mrs. Genivive "Genny" Gipson of Lodi past away unexpectedly Wednesday January 11, 2006 at her residence at the age of 86. Mrs. Gipson was born October 22, 1919 in Greenwood, Arkansas. Mrs. Gipson was eldest of 12 children to Hoyt and Grace Leonard. Mrs. Gipson was long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lodi, where she sang in the church choir. She had many friendships, throughout the States, and volunteered her time with the elderly and the disabled. She had a passion for music and enjoyed attending religious concerts, traveling, country music, especially the "Grand Ole Opry". She will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, mostly for her uplifting and caring personality. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 3 sons, Hoyt Gipson and wife Beverly of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; Ben Gipson and wife Mary Ann of Danville; Dewayne Gipson and wife Sharon of Primville, Oregon; 1 daughter, Ann DiCoio and husband Al of Union City; 4 brothers, Jimmy Leonard of Greenwood, Arkansas; Hoyt J., Donny and R.A. Leonard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 4 sisters, JoAnn Hartsell of Hayward; Wanda Robison of Hereford, Texas; Peggy Sue Booth of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Linda Dunn of Hackett, Arkansas; dearest friend Velma Hogue of Lodi; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Paul Gipson in 1985, 1 son, Billy Gipson in 1987, 1 brother, B.F. Leonard and 2 sisters, Barbara Yadon and Venita Leonard. A graveside service will be held Monday January 16, 2006, 10:00 am at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by an 11:00 am memorial service at First Baptist Church of Lodi. Visitation will be held Sunday 12:00 - 6:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories may be shared.
