I had the previledge of being one of Mr. Kiesz's students not once or twice...but 3 times (in 5th grade at George Washington and again in 7th and 8th grade for Music at Senior Elementary). I will remember him as a dilligent instructor with a great love for music and for teaching. He wanted the best for his students and he knew how to get it out of them. He was also the teacher who broke the news to us about President Kennedy being shot in 1960. That is one moment in time I shall never forget. He had tremendous compassion and knew exactly how to speak to 9 and 10 year old kids about the importance of the issue at hand. We all shall miss him. My condolences to his family. What a wonderful life he led. You should be very proud. Regards, Donna Ehrhardt Mann

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Kiesz. I had the privilege of being one of his students at Washington School in the '50s. Respect, integrity, dedication, compassion and discipline are just a few words that come to mind when I think of that year. There is no doubt in my mind that he was the best teacher in my elementary school experience and for that I am grateful. His classroom was always a safe place to be. He will be missed, but certainly not be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate Walter's life and share your many memories. How well I remember his presence at the organ in church. His music was beautiful and he made the services so special with his obvious love of the harmonies he played.
