In 1975, Alan was diagnosed with Hodg-kins Disease. At age 23, I was totally overwhelmed at the prospect of helping my husband through his treatment and the financial burdens connected with his illness. The day we returned from Stanford, I walked into F & Bank. Harvey saw me and came literally running through the lobby to hug me. He told me not to worry about our car payment because he had already taken care of filing for the credit dis-ability payment. He had heard of Alan's illness at church and taken care of everything on Monday. He made a difference in our life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ruth, Kymberly and Kristi.

Harvey was responsible for helping me to get my job at F&M Bank. He was my dad's loan officer and my dad thought the world of him. When a job came up in Master Card Harvey put in a reference for me based on my dad's word. I was able to work with Harvey over the next 13 years, at times as his loan secretary. He was a wonderful individual and will be missed my many. Ruth, we share your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Ruth, Kim & Kristi - I know what your family is going through right now losing someone who is so special and important to you. Harvey was one of the nicest men I've ever met. He was always so happy and cheerful. I believe that came from a happy home life. Even though it's been 10 years since we lost Bruce, he is always with us. We still turn to him for important decisions, and somehow God seems to communicate a response back to us from him. Harvey will always be there for you, too, if you just believe. His strength will always be in your hearts. God bless all of you now and always.

The Gift, Harvey Kessel Freely Gave Away There is a gift that's sure to please, More precious than pure gold. A gift that's meant for everyone From the young to the old. It is a very common gift That's impossible to hide, And, oh, so very popular- It's easily found worldwide. It is a very fragile gift That should be nourished with great care, And although it is quite common, It can also be quite rare. Everyone at times has had it; People enjoy it everyday, But it seems to have more value when it is freely given away. Even though this gift is priceless, It's no good to us unless We share this gift with others- This great gift is happiness. I had the chance to meet this great man, who was the kindest happiest spirit while working at F & M Bank. May I add Where Banking is Easy if Harvey was the person assisting the customer. In working at F & M Bank , at a time, I had a phone conversation with Harvey or Kathy Sayler on a daily basis for completion of a daily job duty. I'll always cherish those phone conversations. On occasion, Harvey would come to the Lodi Main Office and it was always great to see him. I would say, "Hi Haaarv" and he would say, "Hiiiiii, how yah doing", with a great big smile and his genuine personality. Harvey would brighten up any gloomy day. When I think of Harvey Kessel, what comes to mind is kind, happy, real, cheerful, joyous, funny, friendly and a true human being with the biggest heart ever. I know if he touched my life in a way that will never be forgotten, so many other lives were touched in the very same way. All the F & M functions will be a lasting happy memory. Then, when Ruth joined F & M again, I met the most beautiful and sweetest woman ever. I thought to myself what a blessing these two wonderful people god has blessed as one. In the beginning, I was so saddened to hear about Harvey's illness. Then, I ran into a former Co-Worker and was told it wasn't going to be long. I was saddened even more. I lost my Father 9 days short of his 63rd Birthday and I miss him every day. I thought, Lord, how can you take him at such a young age. Then, I found peace knowing he would not suffer anymore and he was in a better place. The Lord knows when we need to be taken and I will forever live with happy memories of my Father as I will with Harvey Kessel. I will look forward to seeing Harvey Kessel again one day.... YOUR GENUINE, UNIQUE PERSONALITY LEGACY WILL FOREVER LIVE ON HARVEY KESSEL....... Living Love/A Prayer for the Kessel Family His love shall ever light your path- Just know his hand is there To guard you and your soul to keep And lift you from despair. Trust! Turn to Him before you seek Another source of aid; His Holy Spirit is your guide, So do not be dismayed. His angels always linger near And friends are here to pray, He does provide the love and care To meet your needs each day. Accept and trust His power divine, In pleasure and in pain; With faith look up and know that He will use it for your gain. As you submit your will to His, No trial can erase The witness of the love you live Through his amazing grace!

Our whole family has so many wonderful memories of Harvey. Ruth, Kim, Kristi ? we truly feel your loss and extend our sympathies. I remember when Ruth and Harv came out for the first time and were invited over to my parent?s house on Ham Lane. My Dad, Walter, was so impressed with Harvey. He was not only a really likeable guy, he had played major college football and that held real weight at our house. Harvey?s athletic credentials were forever established. When, nearly twenty years later, we were coaching Kristi?s softball team together, I always held Harvey?s opinion above my own. He knew his stuff. I remember many times coming into the bank after my dad died. My mom had all sorts of business needs that required help. Harvey always helped us. He was so friendly and nice ? I know he went out of his way to get all our problems solved. He was so appreciated. I remember coaching the girls with Harvey. He was a pretty good pitcher and threw batting practice a lot. When the game started, he was more often than not the voice of reason. When calls went against us, or when one of the girls dropped a ball, Harvey was always a gentleman and most often the first one to encourage whomever had committed an oops. He was just a pleasure to be around, and his sense of sportsmanship always spoke volumes about the guy?s sense of fairness and generous nature. We will never forget Harvey, the influence he had on our girls? lives through sports, the influence he had in our community, and simply the wonderful man that he was. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with all of you as you carry on in his honor.
