Obituary of Strelsa Naomi Thatcher

Strelsa Naomi Thatcher of Acampo passed away at her home in Acampo on June 20, 2006 at the age of 89. Strelsa was born in Chicago, Illinois to PJ and Grace Jones on March 24, 1917. Her parents moved with her to Topeka, Kansas at the age of three. She married Fred Wagener, and a son Michael Glen Wagener was born in 1938. After moving to Portland, Oregon, she was very active in the business world, working as an accountant. There she met and married Robert Thatcher. They first moved to Seattle, WA and then to Ft. Worth, Texas where he died. Strelsa was always active in the church serving as treasurer for many years at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Ft. Worth. She was an avid bridge player. She moved to Acampo in 1985. She and her sister, Norma Sundermeier lived together in Ft. Worth and also Acampo. The loved to travel together until Strelsa's eyesight dimmed. She is survived by her sister, Norma Sundermeier of Acampo; son, Michael (Camilla) Wagener of Apache Junction, AZ; step-son, Michael (Julie) Thatcher of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Brett and Tim Wagener, Portland, OR, Penni (Paul) Smith, Redding, CA, step-grandson, Greg Romme of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Wagener and Robert Thatcher and step-son, Robert Thatcher, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Friday at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist at 10:00 a.m. There is no visitation, and committal is private. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial remembrances be made to Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 1055 S. Lower Sacramento Rd., Lodi, CA 95240.
