Lloyd Eugene "Gene" Smith, Jr., 75 years old, was born August 7, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah and passed away on June 24, 2006 in a near by hospital after suffering a long illness. He retired from Pacific Coast Producers after 34 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors, playing cards and Lodi Lake. He also enjoyed his grandchildren. Family and friends often viewed him as one of the most compassionate and generous persons they'd ever met. Gene had the unique way of making everyone comfortable and at ease with his quick wit and good-natured personality. Lloyd Eugene Smith is survived by his loving wife, Margie Lea Smith of almost 56 years. They were married September 6, 1950, making their first home in Lodi. After 25 years of marriage, Lloyd and Margie decided to get sealed in the Oakland Temple on January 18, 1975. He is survived by their three children, Lloyd Neal of Lodi, Jeff and wife, Bonnie, of Stockton and Teresa and husband, Eric Bechthold of Lodi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; grandchildren are Christine, Brian, Diane, Tommy, Jeffrey, Angela, Amber, Michael, Michelle, James, Crystal, Sarah, Ryan, Evan and Natalie; great-grandchildren are Allexys, Troy, Logan, Brandon, Porter, John, Jr. and Isaiah; his sister, Sharon and husband, Bill Morse; his brother, Gary and wife, Dawn.
