William Joseph Wells of Lodi passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2006, in Lodi at the age of 74. Mr. Wells was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 18, 1932. He moved to the Pasadena area when he was young and later attended Pasadena City College from 1950-1952. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 in Korea. Later he lived in Sacramento, Southern California, Millbrae and moved to Lodi four years ago. He was self-employed in marketing for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoying sports of all kinds as well as cooking and spending time with his family. He also loved to tell long stories. Mr. Wells is survived by his children; Gary ( Michelle) Whiteley of Marysville, CA, Sharon (Rick) Souza of Acampo, Janet (Terry) Cerutti of McKinney, TX and Laura (Ken) Carter of Maryville, TN; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ella (Berk) Hess of Prescott, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Wells; wife, Mary Louise Wells; son, John Whiteley and brother, Paul Wells, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Chapel, Cherokee Memorial Park. There is no visitation, and committal will be private. Memorial remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, 1212 W. Robinhood Drive, Suite 5-D. Stockton, CA 95207.
