Obituary of Robert William Gehres

Dr. Robert William Gehres, Jr. of Woodbridge passed Sunday August 13, 2006 in the compassionate and wonderful care of Hospice House of Stockton (Hospice of San Joaquin). Rob was born October 4, 1952 in Merced, California to Dr. Robert and Mary Ann Gehres. Rob grew up in Merced and attended the University of California, Davis and received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of the Pacific in 1980. Rob had a distinguished career that began even as a student, when he was president of his graduating pharmacy class. He received honors and recognition, both during graduate school and after. He was a member of numerous professional organizations and also served as President of the Central Valley Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Rob began his career as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of the Pacific, where he taught for ten years. Rob taught and mentored many of our local area pharmacists. In 1987, Rob left UOP to work in a private sector as a Consultant Clinical Pharmacist, serving various nursing homes throughout Northern California. Rob enjoyed his role in providing geriatric and long-term pharmaceutical care. He could also be found working as a community pharmacist at local area pharmacies. Rob was an accomplished guitarist, and also loved golfing, fishing, and the outdoors. Rob was fortunate to have a wonderful family, who were the loves of his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lane Gehres of Woodbridge, 2 daughters, Katie and Megan Gehres of Woodbridge; mother Mary Ann Kauffman and husband Harry of Atwater; 6 brothers, Mark Gehres of Atwater; Paul Gehres of Arnold; John Gehres of Mariposa; Matthew Gehres of Modesto; Patrick Kauffman of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mike Kauffman of Moses Lake, Washington; 3 sisters, Gretchen Gehres of San Mateo; M. Elizabeth Gehres of Denver, Colorado; and Mollie Lucas of Atwater. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert W.
