Doris Lenore Athearn, a long-time resident of Clements, passed away in Lodi on November 10, 2006 at the age of 99. Mrs. Athearn was born in Stockton, CA to William and Adeline Edwards on February 11, 1907. She grew up and attended school in Farmington. When she was eighteen years old, she married Angus Thornton Athearn. They moved to Oakland in the late 1920's, and they lived there until 1972 when Mr. Athearn retired from Safeway. They then moved to Mr. Athearn's family home in Clements. She was a wonderful dancer, and she enjoyed gardening and baking, but most importantly, she was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her beloved husband of 80 years, Angus Athearn; granddaughter, Kelly Athearn; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Murray and Hailey Athearn; two great-great-grandsons, Jacob and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her son, Angus "Buster" William Athearn in 1993; grandson, Tim; brother, Raymond Edwards and sister, Alta Edwards. Friends are invited to visit at Lodi Funeral Home on Monday from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Glen View Cemetery in Clements with Pastor Richard Kalebjian of Clements Community Church officiating. Memorial remembrances may be made to organization of donor's choice.
