Obituary of LeRoy Hessler

LeRoy Hessler a long-time resident of Lodi, passed away in Lodi on December 22, 2006 at the age of 78. Mr. Hessler was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on September 14, 1928 to Peter D. and Eva Margheim Hessler. He served during WWII in the U. S. Army from 1944-1948. On October 24, 1948 he married Elsie Foos. They moved to California in 1955. Mr. Hessler was self-employed with Hesco Wood Products, a wood recycling company. He retired in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture, golfing, fishing and traveling. He was an avid Nebraska Corn Huskers football fan. He enjoyed music, playing the accordion, dulcimer and guitar, but his greatest love was his family, particularly his children and grandchildren. He will be very missed by his beloved family and friends. Mr. Hessler belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose in Lodi and the Elks Club. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie Hessler of Lodi; three daughters, Cheryl (Danny) Lund of Sacramento, Denese (John ) Kozina of Stockton and Wendy (Dennis) Clark of Valley Springs; seven grandchildren, Lee Lund, Andrea Garcia, Matthew Kozina, Lindsey Kozina, Timothy Kozina, Bryan Clark and Allison Clark; three great-grandsons, Alexander, Hendrik and Jaret; four sisters, Dorothy Kauffman, Galt, Darlene Johannes, Gering, Nebraska, Eleanor Austin, Sutherland, Nebraska and Loretta Kenyon, Escondido, CA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rueben Hessler, many years ago and by his beloved dog, Kobe, July 22, 2004. Friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Committal will immediately follow.
