Obituary of Michael Young

Mr. Michael "Mike" Young life long resident of Lodi passed away unexpectedly Monday January 1, 2007 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 59. Mr. Young was born March 18, 1947 in Lodi, California to John and Virginia Young. Mike worked as a Vineyard Manager for his family grape, cherry and walnut vineyards in Lodi (Weidrrich-Young Farms) for many years. He was an avid WWII enthusiast and enjoyed listening to music, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as for his giving personality and willingness to help others. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Colleen Young of Lodi; 2 daughters, Kristen Young and husband John Ives of Berkeley; Margaret Young and companion Jon Taraya of Sacramento; 2 sisters, Louise Barkley and Linda Baker of Lodi; 4 grandchildren, Winter and Dharma Ives of Berkeley; Violet and Salvatore Taraya of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by a son Eric Young in 2000. A chapel service will be held Friday January 5, 2007, 3:00pm at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by a private interment. Visitation will be held Thursday 12:00-8:00pm at the Lodi Funeral Home.
