Obituary of Velma Bridges Fulton

Velma Bridges Fulton was born August 26, 1918 on a farm near Olathe, Colorado to Thompson and Ada Ann Bridges. Velma passed away on December 30, 2006 at the age of 88. In 1924 the family moved to Long Beach, California where Velma graduated from David Starr Jordan High School in June, 1936. After completing a one year scholarship at Graw Business College, Velma was employed as cashier for American National Life Insurance Co. for 18 years in the Santa Ana, California office. She was then employed for 21 years in the Accounting Department of Kinney Heating and Air Conditioning, retiring on December 31, 1980. On August 25, 1945 Velma was joined in marriage to William R. Fulton, Jr., USMC. They resided in Santa Ana until 1987 when they moved to San Andreas, California. Upon the death of William in 1992, Velma moved to Lodi where she has resided until her death. Velma was preceded in death by her parents Thompson and Ada Bridges, two infant siblings, brothers; Whitney Hollis Johnson and Floyd Hall Bridges; sister, Verna Bridge Guilder and infant daughter, Betty Louise Fulton. Velma in survived by her son, William R. Fulton, III, daughter-in-law, Karen Marie Jensen-Fulton; granddaughters, Emma Marie Fulton, Elyse Ann Fulton and grandson Daniel W.R. Fulton. Committal will be private at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery where her husband is buried. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. David Hill officiating. Memorial remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lodi Unit, 207 East Alpine Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204 or Grace Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Mills Avenue, Lodi, CA 95242.
