Ethel Christine Copeland of Lodi passed away in Stockton on January 3, 2007 at the age of 89. Mrs. Copeland was born in Alfred, Texas on December 24, 1917 to Proctor and Ethel Emma Arrant Taylor. She married Woodrow Wilson Copeland on November 24, 1938 in Texas. They first moved to California in 1942. They moved to Northern California in 1978, living in Fremont, Modesto and Lockeford. She moved to Lodi where she has lived since 1982. Mrs. Copeland worked as a salesperson at Mervyns before retiring. She was an artist who enjoyed sewing and reading, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Lodi Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Copeland is survived by her two sons, Roger (Barbara) Copeland of San Lorenzo and Dennis (Caroline) Copeland of Monterey; three grandchildren, Terry, Toni and Michael; three great-grandchildren, William, Jessica and Alex; sister, Margie Hawkins of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Copeland in January of 1982 and her brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Lodi Avenue Baptist Church. There is no visitation, and committal is private at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Lodi Avenue Baptist Church, 2302 W. Lodi Avenue, Lodi, CA 95242.
