Robert Earl DuBose , 63, of Lodi, passed away on March 2, 2007 in Orlando, Florida following a sudden illness. Bob was born on May 29, 1943 in St. Helena, California to Robert L. and Erleen DuBose. The family lived in Angwin, Santa Rosa and Placerville before moving to Lodi in 1951. Bob attended Lodi SDA Elementary School and graduated from Lodi Academy in 1962. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in the Lodian Singers and for weddings and funerals. He played the trumpet in the school band and in a trumpet trio as well as solos for church and school events. Bob was a guest soloist in the Messiah in Ukiah during this time and enjoyed serving as student director of both the band and choir. Following academy graduation, he attended Pacific Union College in Angwin for a year before attending The College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles, graduating in 1965. Following graduation, he worked as a funeral director in Corona, Sacramento for his uncle at Nightingale's Funeral Home and B.C. Wallace Funeral Home in Stockton. Bob also worked for his father at DuBose Plastering, later obtaining a Plasterers Contractor's License. For the past few years, Bob spent winters in Florida working on construction at Disney World and recently at Orlando Convention Center. He married Kathy Hunt in 1965 in Williams, California. He enjoyed water and snow skiing and family campouts at Yosemite National Park. He was a member of English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church, attended Florida Hospital Seventh-day Adventist Church in Orlando and was a member of Plasterers' Union Local # 66 in San Francisco. He is survived by his children, Brian Christopher, Corrin Chantel and Debra Linn; mother, Erleen DuBose of Lodi; sister, Valerie Suelzle of Lodi and nephews, Greg Suelzle of Lodi and Grant and wife Karrina Suelzle of Torrance. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee DuBose in 2002; grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Nightingale, Frank DuBose, step-grandfather Major H.C. and Ferrol Russell. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Wayne Young and Robert Williams officiating. There is no visitation, and committal is private.
