Obituary of Mary Yukiko Tomita

Mary Yukiko Tomita, a longtime resident of Lodi, passed away in Lodi on May 3, 2007 at the age of 91. Mrs. Tomita was born in Montebello, California on November 2, 1915 to Matahachi and Kazue Okamoto. As a young child she was sent to Japan where she was educated. On February 15, 1936, she married Tokuichi Paul Tomita in Japan. They then returned to the United States, eventually settling in Lodi in 1946. Mrs. Tomita worked at Bailey's Nursery for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She is survived by her two sons, Sam H. Tomita of Lodi and William (Molly) Tomita of Redman, WA; two grandchildren, Ryan and Jayme Tomita; two sisters, May Okamoto of Minneapolis, MN and Alice Matsuda of Hawaii; one brother, Harry Okamoto. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tomita in 1992, daughter, Nancy Yabu in 2002 and brothers, Isamu and George Okamoto. Friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Buddhist Church of Lodi. Committal will be private.
