Obituary of Carolyn J. "Dolly" Brown

Mrs. Carolyn J. (Dolly) Brown went to be with the Lord early Monday morning May 14, 2007, one day shy of her 53rd anniversary. She was born June 21, 1925 in Williston, North Dakota to Walter & Lydia Lukenbill. Dolly moved to Sacramento at age 17. She did a little modeling and was one of the 10 runner-ups in the 1950 Miss Sacramento contest. Her first job was with the phone company and then she began working at the Standard Oil Company where she met her husband Don. Most of her employment years consisted of running a PBX switchboard, the last 25 at American River Hospital, where she retired in 1998. She is survived by her loving husband Don, children, Debbie (Bill Powell), Tami (Kevin Choiniere), and Dan (Brenda). Grandchildren, Christopher Powell, Stacia (Matt Taplin), Kimberlee Powell; Reagan, Abigail, Magnus & Clara Brown, and great grandson Will Taplin. She was proceeded in death by her parents Walter and Lydia, brothers Bud, John, Berk, Bill and Frank, and sisters Belle and Mary and two precious babies that died in infancy. Dolly loved doing projects around the house and was known to even get up on the roof and do some roofing herself. She was a very loving and giving person who always found a great sale and loved to buy little gifts for those she loved. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 18, 2007, 10:30 am at Arcade Wesleyan Church, 3532 Whitney Ave., Sacramento, CA. Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00-8:00pm at East Lawn Mortuary 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA.
