Obituary of Maria Machado Toledo

Maria Machado Toledo passed away on May 11, 2007. She was born on June 4, 1929 in St. Isabel, Brazil to Manuel and Cecilia Machado. Maria married John Toledo on January 31, 1952, and in 1955 they moved to the United States settling in Artesia, then moving to Galt in 1966. Together with her husband, Maria was a business partner for the Toledo Dairy. Maria was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, U.P.E.C., and Our Lady of Fatima of Thornton. She loved America and was very proud to become a U.S. Citizen several years ago. Maria loved to travel. She often made trips to Brazil to visit her sisters and loved to go on cruises. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most importantly, she loved her family. Maria is survived by her daughter Mary Toledo of Galt, son Anthony (Mary) Toledo of Galt, grandchildren Joe Machado, Christina (Noah) Levinson, Jeanette Toledo, Brian Toledo, and Anthony Toledo, and five sisters: Isabel, Joaquina, Alice, and Hercelia all of Brazil and Vigilina (Jose) Martins of Artesia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Toledo, brother Jose Machado, and sister Alizeda. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with committal to immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
