Obituary of James E. Lehr

James "Jim" E. Lehr, MD of Lodi and former resident of Modesto passed away unexpectedly Tuesday May 29, 2007 in Lodi at the age of 59. Dr. Lehr was born March 16, 1948 in Stockton, California to Herbert and Mary Lehr. Dr. Lehr attended and graduated from Lodi High School in the Class of 1966. During that period, he attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout at Troop 295 of Lodi. Soon after high school, he attended undergraduate school at UC Davis and in 1976 received a MD from UC Irvine. Dr. Lehr practiced medicine in Modesto for almost 30 years, most recently at Sutter Gould Medical Group. He retired in 2006. He was a member of the American Medical Assoc. and the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Jim was an avid outdoors man and scuba diver and also enjoyed international travels, especially taking his Mom back to Italy in 1998. He also enjoyed the hours he spent with his family, friends, especially his children and passing on family tradition for future generations. He also enjoyed his beloved Brittney Spaniel "Chip" on the Mokelumne River. Jim was a voracious reader and in constant pursuit of knowledge. He enjoyed deep intellectual conversations. He will be best remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, brother and dear friend. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Judy Lehr of Lodi; his beloved children, James Lehr of Chico; Christa Lehr of Modesto; a sister and friend Debbie Lehr-Lee and husband Harry of San Jose; nephews, Nicolas and Mitchell Lee, a niece Christina Lee all of San Jose; a mother in-law Donna Wilkins of Coarsegold; a sister in-law Jeannie Bynum of Upper Lake; and his pal "Chip". He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Lehr. A memorial service will be held Tuesday June 5, 2007, 11:00am at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by a private interment.
