Please share a memory of Teresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Teresa May Sifers of Lodi, and formerly of Grass Valley, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2007, at the age of 81. She was born on March 26, 1926, in Everett, Washington to Clarence and Sylveen Batty. On December 20, 1945, Teresa married Henry Sifers in Angels Camp. The couple moved to Torrance, CA where they would raise their family. Upon retirement, Henry and Teresa moved to Grass Valley where they lived until Henry's passing in 2003. She spent the remaining years of her life surrounded by her loving family in Lodi. Teresa Sifers was a simple woman. She didn't require much in life. She found the joy of fulfillment in both her family and in the deep faith she professed and lived her whole life. Teresa was an active member in the Legion of Mary until retirement, yet still remained a daily Mass participant until her recent decline in health. Her deep faith formed the moral structure and firm foundation of her life. Teresa was a sister among a family of ten, a wife, a mother of six, a grandmother of fifteen, and a great-grandmother of twenty-two. She will be remembered as simply as she lived. She was someone who was deeply loved and will be forever embraced in all of our memories. Teresa is survived by her children: Linda Martin of Lodi, Cathy (Patrick) Sullivan of Simi Valley, Phillip (Barbara Lee) Sifers of Sunnyvale, Anita (Edward) Zubrinic of Collinsville, OK, Mary (Donald) Pitkin of Sparks, NV, and Patricia Garcia of Lodi; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters: Angela Farnsworth and Barbara Pitto; and brothers: Robert, Donald, Gerald (Eileen), Joseph (Jean), and David (Jeannie) Batty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Henry Sifers, brother Lawrence Batty, and sister Genevieve Nealon. Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 7, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. in Lodi. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St. in Lodi. Committal will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.
