Obituary of Betty Maley Crete

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Maley Crete, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend was born in Los Angeles on May 15, 1925 to Everett and Mabel Maley. Betty passed on peacefully Saturday morning, June 9, 2007. Betty attended Needham Elementary School and Lodi High School where she was Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls. She completed her education at the College of the Pacific, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Betty married Richard Crete in 1948 and together helped to develop Crete's Camera Center, and ultimately Crete Studios, a fixture on School Street for many decades to come. As the business was evolving, Betty and Dick's two children, Linda and Michael were born. Betty loved and was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by her friends through many years of camaraderie while on the tennis court and golf course, and bridge games at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club. She was also a member of Omega Nu. She was a great cook and an admired and gracious hostess who loved to bring family and friends together for memorable gatherings including annual Fourth of July celebrations and Super Bowl feasts. She and Dick loved to travel and often took the family on trips to the mountains in Tahoe or the beach in Santa Cruz, as well as special getaways to Hawaii and Mexico. She adored her children and grandchildren, Megan and Andy. Betty had an unassuming passion for life. Simply put, to know Betty was to love Betty. She was preceded in death by her mother Mabel and father Everett, and recently by her beloved husband Richard. Betty is survived by her brothers Louie and Joe Maley, as well as her daughter Linda, son Michael, and grandchildren Megan and Andy. There is no visitation and services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
