Obituary of Carl Henry Fillhardt

Carl H. Fillhardt, age 93, of Lodi passed away on June 15, 2007 in Lodi. He was born on April 12, 1914 in Newport, Kentucky and came to Lodi in 1918 with his parents Henry and Mary Fillhardt and brother Earl Fillhardt. He was a life time Agri-Businessman in Lodi. He graduated from local schools and from Lodi Union High School in 1933 where he met his wife, Lydia Schlotthauer, and they were married on August 14, 1938. He worked for and became Assistant Manager for the Maxwell Motor Supply before going into the United Sates Army in 1942. He was a Sergeant in the Quartermaster Corp in Camp Carson, Colorado and Ft. Lewis, Washington and was honorably discharged in 1946. He came home in 1946 to farm with his father and brother under the name of Fillhardt Bros. Farming. He later went to work for the California Fruit Exchange and became District Manager of the Lodi and Linden District area in 1957. He went to work for Nash DeCamp, one of the largest fruit and vegetable sellers in California, as a representative for Howard Mason Fruit Co until his retirement in 1986. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 22 with a Lifetime Membership. He was a Chamber of Commerce Board Member from 1958 through 1961. He was also a Board Member of the TMA for the Acampo District. He lived in the Acampo District and was a Board of Trustee for Houston School for eight years. He was a past member of the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club and a past member of Eagles and also Treasurer of the Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the California Farm Bureau. Mr. Fillhardt is survived by his two sons, Charles Fillhardt of San Jose and Larry (Carol) Fillhardt of Modesto; four grandchildren, Melissa Fillhardt, Jennifer (Nathan) Deatley, Ryan Fillhardt and Nathan Fillhardt and three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Colton and Caden Deatley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Fillhardt, brother Earl Fillhardt and wife, Lydia Fillhardt in 2004. Friends are invited to visit Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park.
