David Lee McCulloch of Lodi, passed away on June 23, 2007 in Lodi at the age of 80. Mr. McCulloch was born in Wilmar, California on March 2, 1927 to James and Betty McCulloch. David L. McCulloch, a WWII veteran, served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia. During his time on board the "WeeVee", as she was known to her crew, the battleship saw action in the Philippines, survived a kamikaze hit, provided artillery fire for the Marine invasion of Iwo Jima, played an integral part in the battle of Okinawa, and was on hand for the Japanese surrender on September 2nd 1945. David was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947 after fours years of service. He worked for a number of years as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance in Sunnyvale. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee McCulloch; three sons, James (wife, Maureen ) McCulloch of Los Angeles, Kenneth (wife, Toni) McCulloch of Fremont and Thomas (wife, Carol) McCulloch of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren Brian, Jessica, Nicholas (wife, Brandy) Joshua, Katelyn, Adam and Jonathan McCulloch. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth McCulloch and sister, Margaret Jean Smith. Services and committal were private, and there was no visitation.
