Obituary of Leora Rust

Leora Rust of Stockton, passed away in Stockton on June 27, 2007 at the age of 83. Mrs. Rust was born in Spiro, Oklahoma on January 11, 1924 to John and Margaret Shaw. She married Dewey L. Rust on December 30, 1945 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They came to California in 1947. Mrs. Rust was a licensed pastor and director of Prayer Life Ministry with her daughter in the 1980's, broadcasting in this area. She also worked for Stockton Unified School District for ten years. She was a wonderful Sunday School teacher for many years, also sharing her love of the Lord in her home prayer meetings. She was a member of Calvary First Assembly of God in Stockton. She enjoyed the outdoors, particularly her family trips to Yosemite, gardening, quilting and having the title of "Grandma with the jelly beans." Mrs. Rust was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She will be so dearly missed. She is survived by her husband, Dewey L. Rust of Stockton; children, Linda D. Rust of Stockton and Pastor Larry D. (wife, Hilda) Rust of Stockton; two grandchildren, Eric (wife, Nicole) Rust and Adam (wife, Sarah) Rust; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Mitchell, Logan and Brody; one sister, Jo Ellen Dickinson of Galt. She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Jess, Jim, Floyd, Elmer and Tom Shaw and five sisters, Dora Hunter, Bertha Foster, Joyce Souza, Lorene Shaw and Thelma Walker. Friends are invited to visit Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary First Assembly of God in Stockton. Committal will be private.
