Mrs. Lillian Knecht of Victor passed away Sunday July 8, 2007 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 96. Mrs. Knecht was born March 30, 1911 in Bowdle, South Dakota to Christian and Minnie Hagele. Mrs. Knecht attended South Dakota?s Country Schools and in 1931 graduated from Vermillion School of Nursing where she earned a nursing degree. In 1934 she married the love of her life the late Elmer Knecht and together moved to Shafter, California. They remained in the Central Valley living in Arvin, Galt and later settled in Victor. She was an avid outdoors person and enjoyed traveling, playing card games, hunting and especially fishing. She was a member of the Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church and a volunteer at the Fairmont Community Service Center. She will be best remembered as a loving and caring wife, and honest friend, as well as for her quick wit, a ready smile and sweet disposition. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 1 brother, Albion Hagele and wife Mabel of Ipswich, South Dakota; brother in-laws, Roy and Marvin Knecht of Sacramento; 1 sister in-law Lillian Dollinger of La Habra and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Knecht in 2002, 4 brothers, Arthur, Jacob, William and Walter Hagele, 3 sisters, Lydia Hagele, Emma Bitzer and Elsie Nelson. A chapel service will be held Friday July 13, 2007, 10:00am at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park under the direction of Lodi Funeral Home.
