Dan was a licensed Christian Marriage and Family Counselor for 30 years and also a licensed pastor. Dan graduated from Biola University and served as a Youth Pastor at Roosevelt Church in Lancaster, California. In 1969, Dan and Sharon served as missionaries in Bolivia, South America. When they returned to the states Dan served as a Youth Pastor in San Jose at the Evangelical Free Church. He also worked with Dr. Dean Smith at Saratoga Center for Guidance and Growth as a counselor. In 1978 Dan and his family moved to Lodi to begin working as a Therapist at Nautico Ministries and eventually went on to open his own private practice as a Christian counselor with Marie Van Veldhuizen at Lodi Family Guidance and Growth. Dan had a heart for missions and facilitated over 30 Mexico mission trips with various churches. Dan had a passion for youth and taught anger management classes once a week at Liberty High School. He loved movies, cycling, cars, Honey Treat yogurt and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. In 2000 he started with his youngest son, Josh, an auto detailing business named, "An Eye for Perfection". Part of the profit he made from detailing cars he donated to the One Eighty Teen Center in Lodi. Dan was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Lodi and also helped facilitate the single parent ministry. Through the years he also presented workshops to various churches and groups in the community. Dan had a big heart and loved the unlovable. His purpose in life was to share the Lord and be used by Him. The week before he died he participated in M360. A 6 day, 360 mile bike trip down the coast to raise money for Lesotho, Africa. This was his third year as a cyclist for this event. He passed away the day after M360 ended doing what he loved, cycling and sharing the Lord. He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa and friend. He will solely be missed. He stayed the course entering his heavenly father's arms hearing, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
