Obituary of Alma Louise Valencia

Mrs. Alma Louise Merryfield-Valencia of Madera and former longtime resident of Valley Springs passed away Friday July 27,2007 surrounded by her family in her residence at the age of 86. Mrs. Valencia was born June 6, 1921 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to P.D. and Nancy Barnes. Mrs. Valencia owned and operated Red Carpet Reality in Valley Springs for many years before retiring in 1991. Mrs. Valencia was a Charter Member of the Valley Springs Business Assoc., where she was voted Citizen of the year in 1987. She was also Past Grand Marshall of the Valley Springs Christmas Parade in 1988. Mrs. Valencia was an avid reader and enjoyed embroidery, traveling, fine dinning and spending time with family and friends. She will be best remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon Oliveira and husband Gary of Madera; Barbara St. Julian and husband John of Valley Springs; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her late husband Thomas C. Valencia, Sr. in 2005, 1st husband Joe Merryfield, son, William Merryfield, daughter, Patricia Goodner, 4 brothers, Earnest, Roy, Jack and Lloyd, Barnes and a sister Lillian Owens. A chapel service will be held Wednesday August 8, 2007, 10:00am at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by inurnment at the Cherokee Memorial Park cemetery.
