Obituary of Alpha Laura Aiello

Alpha Laura (Rutherford) Aiello was born on August 24, 1923, in Arlington, South Dakota, and passed away peacefully in her home on August 11, 2007, with her daughters at her side. She graduated from Banning Union High School, Banning, California, on June 13, 1941. She married William J. Aiello on October 4, 1942, and moved to Fresno, California in 1946. She enjoyed being a homemaker, mother, and spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to her life. She took great pride in gardening and especially loved her roses. She moved to Stockton in 1968 and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Morada. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary since 1946, and also was a member of the Young Ladies Institute (YLI) since 1954. Later in her life she began a career as a nanny, finding much reward in nurturing young children. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Caglia and husband, Dave of Fresno, California, Stephanie Bayha and husband, Bill of Acampo, California; grandchildren, Sloane Caglia, Brett Bayha, Marlo Melton and husband, Job; great-grandchildren, Royce McPhee-Bayha, Alyssa Melton and Andrew Melton; sister, Melba Archibek of Albany, Oregon and brother, Clayton Rutherford of Banning. She was preceded in death by brother, Eldred Rutherford. Friends are invited to visit Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Committal will immediately follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.
