Obituary of Lucy T. Souza

Lucy T. Souza, a native of Stockton, passed away in Lodi on August 15, 2007 at the age of 91. Mrs. Souza was born at Roberts Island on July 10, 1916 to Joseph and Lucinda Costa. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Y.L.I., S.P.R.S.I. and U.P.P.E.C. She was very active in the Portuguese community as well as St. Anne's Catholic Church, where she belonged to St. Joan's Rosary Making Group. Mrs. Souza was known for her cooking and baking, particularly, her Portuguese sweet bread; however, most importantly, she was Mother to her whole family, and she will be so dearly missed, not only by her family, but the friends who also loved her. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances Silva of Lodi, Emily (Frank) Taormina of Lodi; son, Frank, Jr. (Cecelia) Souza of Stockton; four grandchildren, Frank S. Taormina, Patricia (Curtis) Allmon, Frank R. Souza, and Celisa (Nicholas) Mussi; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Lance Allmon; one sister, Velma(John) Rivara of Ripon; five brothers, John (Eleanor) Costa of Stockton, Louis (Mary) Costa of Lodi, Andrew (Patty) Costa of Sacramento, Tom (Mary) Costa of Lodi and George Costa of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Rose Costa and Helen Costa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank X. Souza, Sr. in 1985, three brothers, Joe, Tony and Frank Costa; sister, Mary Fernandes and sister-in-law, Mary P. Costa. Friends are invited to visit Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with committal to immediately follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton.
